Driver seriously injured in US 13 crash

Southbound U.S. 13 was closed in the Biddles Corner area just south of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal for several hours Thursday evening after a serious crash involving a car and a flatbed truck, state police said.

The occupant of a car was seriously injured Thursday evening in a US 13 southbound crash.

The driver of the car suffered serious injuries in the 6:30 p.m. crash near Port Penn Road and was airlifted by state police helicopter to Christiana Hospital, Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said.

With the investigation in preliminary stages, details were not yet available of how the crash occurred.

A crash involving a flatbed truck and a car has closed US 13 southbound south of the C&D canal.

More information about the crash will be released after police finish their investigation, he said.
