A prominent corporate litigation lawyer is being sued by a bicyclist who was struck by his vehicle on Kennett Pike near Wilmington two years ago.

The lawsuit claims Wilmington attorney Thomas J. Allingham II struck Jennifer Vinton as he turned onto the road where he lives near Wilmington on Aug. 14, 2014.

Vinton's attorney, Timothy Lengkeek, declined to comment on the suit. Attempts to reach Allingham by phone and email on Thursday were also unsuccessful.

The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court on Aug. 5, claims that Vinton was riding her bicycle southbound on Kennett Pike (Rt. 52) in the bike lane. She then crossed the intersection at Westover Road as Allingham made a left turn from Rt. 52 northbound onto Westover Road.

Vinton was struck and suffered injuries to her left wrist/hand, pelvis, ribs, neck, shoulder, left knee, hip, ankle and arm, as well as a traumatic brain injury to the head. She has permanent scarring from cuts and bruises sustained during the crash and lost wages, the suit said.

A file photo shows attorney Thomas J. Allingham II speaking to members of the Delaware State Bar Association at the Chase Center on the Riverfront. A lawsuit filed Aug. 5 claims Allingham's vehicle crashed into a bicyclist in 2014.

The lawsuit demands judgment, arguing that Allingham was negligent and failed to give his full attention to driving, the suit said.

"[She] has experienced in the past and will experience in the future, considerable pain, suffering, discomfort, anxiety and anguish, both mental and physical in nature," the suit said.

Allingham is a well-known lawyer at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. He practices corporate and securities litigation with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and statutory appraisals. He also is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
