Woman killed on US 13 near New Castle

A woman was killed on U.S. 13 just north of the U.S. 13/U.S. 40 split Friday afternoon, state police Sgt. Paul G. Shavack said.

The two left lanes of the 100 block of S. DuPont Highway northbound, in the area of Hooters Restaurant, were closed while the crash was being investigated, Shavack said. They have since been reopened.

Motorists may use Del. 1 northbound to eastbound Del. 273 back to U.S. 13 to avoid the area, DelDOT says.
