State police on Tuesday identified a 34-year-old Newark man killed in a two-vehicle crash on Philadelphia Pike.

Ronald O. Miller died and another man was injured in the crash about 7:20 p.m. Sunday at the intersection with Sunset Drive at the Delaire neighborhood.

Miller was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier north on the pike when for unknown reason he crossed the center line and struck the front of a 2013 Nissan Altima, Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said.

Both vehicles then spun around, with the Altima coming to rest at the Sunset Drive corner, and the Cavalier coming to rest against a guardrail on the west side of Philadelphia Pike.

Miller was trapped in the Cavalier until he was extricated by emergency crews. He was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from multiple blunt force trauma, Hale said.

The driver of the Altima, Omar O. Morris, 33, of Wilmington, also was taken by ambulance to Christiana and was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening, Hale said.

Police are still investigating the crash, which closed Philadelphia Pike for two hours.

Miller was wearing a seat belt but Morris was not properly restrained, Hale said.
