A liquor store clerk was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting of a customer who had been previously banned from the business, police said Monday.

Michael Brodie, 35, of Dover, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon, said Cpl. Mark Hoffman.

The incident occurred about 4 p.m. at the Driftwood Spirits Liquor store at 133 S. Bradford St. where a man walked into the business, opened the door to the cooler and was fired upon by Brodie, who was inside, police said.

The 33-year-old victim ran out of the store with Brodie following still firing at the victim, Hoffman said.

The victim fell on his back after leaving the store and Brodie allegedly stood over him and fired two more shots at him.

He sustained a minor graze wound that was not life-threatening.

An investigation determined that the clerk and the victim had had prior run-ins, Hoffman said.

The shooting was the third in three days in Dover.

Brodie was committed to Vaughn Correctional Center on secured bail.
