Someone with a BB-gun is running amok in New Castle County.

Over the last two weeks, county police say 10 homes and five vehicles have had window damage from being shot with BBs.

Some of the homes and vehicles were occupied at the time, Sgt. Jacob Andrews said Wednesday night.

“Thankfully, no injuries have been reported,” Andrews said, noting police are seeking the public’s help to find whoever is responsible.

The shooter or shooters literally are targeting numerous communities, he said.

Police have responded to such criminal mischief complaints on Stanton Road, Glenmore Drive off Newport Gap Pike between Stanton and Newport, on Utah Road in Park Place Trailer Park near Stanton, Montgomery Road in Willow Run near Elsmere, St. John Drive in Dunlinden Acres in the Milltown area near Prices Corner and Old Capitol Trail in the Marshallton area.

In addition to warning residents about the problem, Andrews said county police ask residents to report any suspicious individuals or vehicles they observe near their homes.

Police also urge residents of the affected areas to lock doors and windows, as well as use home alarm systems and outdoor lighting if their homes are equipped with them.

Anyone who has information about the BB-gun shootings or has exterior surveillance cameras in the affected areas that show the shootings is asked to call police at (302) 573-2800, Andrews said.
