Fenwick Island eatery offers crepes and gifts

Patrons can expect more than just the French treat at the new Fenwick Island eatery, Crepes and Crazes.

Open since June, the restaurant serves an array of crepes, including a create-your-own crepe option, as well as waffstix (waffle sticks), salads, sandwiches and ice cream. Crepe specials include Strawberry Fields, Pizza Crepe, Surfing Smores and Cheese Steak Lovers.

When owner Sherri Perzinski decided to open the shop, she wanted to also bring in something unique — or rather, a lot of things unique, she said.

Upon entering the shop, customers will not only be greeted by the smell of homemade C&C cream, but also walk onto a diagonally tiled floor and look onto walls covered with handmade quilts, wall hangings, artwork and all things crazy, Perzinski said.

The variety of gifts serve a dual purpose — not only are they decorations, but they are for sale, including original artwork by an employee.

"A 'craze,' in my opinion, is a fad or art that is very unique and unusual, and that's what our shop is all about," she said. "There is something for everyone, and you won't leave without a smile."

Originally from Baltimore, Perzinski has considered herself a Fenwick Island local since she was young, since her family had a summerhouse at the beach.

When opening a shop became a reality, she couldn't think of a better home, she said.

Manager Filip Siladjev is working in Fenwick for the summer as a J-1 student from Croatia and is thankful he got a position at Crepes and Crazes.

"I didn't expect it would be this good — working in such a fun, welcoming area and shop has definitely exceeded my expectations," Siladjev said. "Working anywhere else seems rather ... boring."

Crepes and Crazes works to expand its menu by adding at least something weekly. Soon-to-be-added items include brownies, including a gluten-free recipe, in response to the positive feedback of its gluten-free crapes already on the menu.

"Whether you're hungry or just looking to buy something, there is something for everyone here, and I hope people come in and visit us and see a little craze is a lot of fun," Perzinski said.
