The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations for the 16th annual Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business awards.

The program is the state chamber's way to honor small businesses and nonprofits.

An event in Wilmington to honor the winners is planned for the Hotel du Pont Gold Ballroom on Nov. 12. This year's keynote speech is from Steven D. Strauss, who is founder and president of The Strauss Group and a best-selling author with titles that include "The Small Business Bible" and "Planet Entrepreneur."

The application is available online at ssb.dscc.com and those who prefer a hard-copy of the application can email or call Kelly Wetzel at kwetzel@dscc.com or (302) 576-6564.

The deadline for entry is Aug. 21 at noon. Those who have earned an award in previous years are eligible to re-apply five years later. Eligibility requires membership in the state chamber, being in business at least three years and having fewer than 150 employees.

The awards help to publicize those who should be "commended for their first-rate performance in such areas as strategic marketing, customer service, quality control and financial performance. They also excel as good stewards of the community, giving back and paying forward through leadership and employee involvement," according to a statement from the chamber.
