Two men were arrested Friday after they stole a woman’s purse in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart near Elsmere, state police said.

Stephen D. Dunfee III allegedly stole a 35-year-old woman’s purse around 3:20 p.m. but dropped it before he got into a vehicle driven by Devin J. Holt, police spokesman Sgt. Paul G. Shavack said.

A witness got the license plate number of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in which the men fled, which allowed police to track the men down near the 100 block of Middleboro Road and arrest them, Shavack said.

Dunfee, 20, and Holt, 19, each were charged with robbery. Dunfee was charged with possession of heroin. Both men were taken to Young Correctional Institution.
