A Wilmington man who was found passed out behind the wheel of his car in the drive-through lane of a fast food eatery was arrested when officers spotted a .38 caliber revolver on the floor of the car, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred about 7:10 a.m. Saturday at the McDonald's restaurant at 4111 N. Market Street, said Cpl. Mark Ivey.

The driver was identified as Tiron Warrington, 28, a convicted felon who lives in the 600 block of E. 22nd St.

Officers Antonio Tiberi, Justin Cannon and Matthew Geiser were alerted by McDonald's management of the sleeping motorist in the drive-through lane.

When officers arrived, they tried to wake Warrington, and then spotted the .38 caliber revolver on the floorboard. A check of the weapon determined it was loaded.

Warrington was taken to Wilmington Hospital for a medical evaluation.

He was later charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Warrington was committed to the Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $20,000 cash bail.
