If you're wondering how Dave Grohl's leg is healing after the Foo Fighters frontman fell off a stage, Roberto Ruiz has an update for you.

He's not Grohl's doctor, manager or confidante. He's a cashier at Atlantic Liquors near Rehoboth Beach.

Ruiz was working Sunday when Grohl, still on crutches from his June fall in Sweden, stopped in to buy some beer.

"He said that Sunday was the first time he was able to take a shower standing up," says Ruiz, 28, of Rehoboth Beach, who took a photo with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-approved rocker. "He was really cool."

We should have known: If a broken leg can't keep Grohl from performing with the Foo Fighters, it certainly wasn't going to keep him from one of his favorite summertime vacation spots.

Grohl has been spotted around Rehoboth, Dewey and Bethany beaches this weekend, just like he has for more than a decade.

On Monday night, he was at Nicola Pizza in Rehoboth Beach and took a photo with server Brittany LaFazia.

After the fall, Grohl & Co. re-started the tour with a 20th anniversary bash at Washington D.C.'s RFK Stadium on July 4 and last played in South Korea on July 26. The band goes back on the road in Canada starting Aug. 12.

On Saturday, one eagle-eyed fan spotted Grohl driving in Dewey Beach -- even with his bum leg.

By Sunday night, the Bethany Beach Ocean Suites tweeted a photo of a young hotel worker named Stephen posing with the smiling fighter of foo.

In the photo, Grohl is seen on crutches with his right foot in a boot, but with his ever-present smile is still intact.

A native of the Washington, D.C. area, the former Nirvana drummer vacationed in Delaware when he was younger and re-started the tradition with his own family.

It's a family that has grown in recent years. Grohl and his wife Jordyn welcomed their third daughter last year. The family celebrated her first birthday Saturday.

Before this weekend, the most recent Grohl sighting in Delaware came last summer when the Foo Fighters headlined the Firefly Music Festival in Dover.

It was his first time performing in a state that has hosted years of Grohl family vacations.

"Let me tell you, it's good to be back," he said last summer before the band opened its set with "Times Like These."

"I spent a lot of time around these parts. I still do. Every time I smell a Grotto pizza, God damn! What other pizza place will get you home after a drunk night in Rehoboth Beach?" he said without elaborating on what is surely a crazy story.

Since 2004, Grohl has been spotted at Rehoboth Beach hotspots like Funland, the Cultured Pearl Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Nicola Pizza and Arena's Deli and Bar. He was also seen at the the old Venus on the Half Shell in Dewey Beach, now known as Ivy, back in 2004.

If you spot Grohl in the wild at the beaches of Delaware and have a photo of him, share it with News Journal entertainment reporter Ryan Cormier at rcormier@delawareonline.com.
