Police: Woman with 3 children in car held at knifepoint

The News Journal

A woman and her three children were held at knifepoint inside their parked car in Pike Creek on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery in front of the Valley Liquors store in the 4700 block of Limestone Road in Pike Creek Shopping Center.

At about 1:18 p.m. Thursday, a man approached the victim's vehicle, opened the unlocked passenger door and sat in the front passenger seat, police said.

He took out a knife and demanded money from the victim, but the 26-year-old woman from Oxford, Pennsylvania refused to give into his demands, police said.

After several failed attempts to get money, the man then grabbed the keys to the vehicle and threw them into a nearby bush and ran away, police said. No one was injured.

The man is described as white, approximately 20 to 25 years old and weighing 160 to 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt and dark shorts.
