A Wilmington man was charged with breaking into a hotel and stealing $1,250 worth of perishable food in Claymont, according to state police.

Christopher M. Toth

Police arrested 43-year-old Christopher M. Toth and charged him with burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the March 23 burglary at the Crowne Point Plaza Hotel in the 600 block of Naamans Road, Master Cpl. Jeffrey R. Hale said.

He was identified after police received numerous tips from the public who identified Toth from surveillance videos released by detectives, Hale said. In surveillance footage, Toth was seen entering the hotel and taking food from the kitchen's freezer before fleeing from the scene.

After he was identified, Hale said police obtained a search warrant for Toth's home Monday and took him into custody after finding evidence linking him to the burglary.

He was then charged and released on $4,500 unsecured bail.
