A gunman robbed two women, one with a baby, outside the Dover Library and declared, “This is a stick-up,” city police said Monday.

Investigators identified the robber, said to have stolen one woman’s wallet, as Matthew Gannon, 30, whom they said has no known address.

He approached the victims – one with an 11-month-old – on Sunday as they were about to get out of a vehicle in the library parking lot in the first block of E. Loockerman St., Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Gannon pushed a gun against the side of the woman in the driver’s seat as he told them of the “stick-up,” he said.

The driver took her wallet from the vehicle’s center console and gave it to him, Hoffman said.

Gannon, accompanied by another man, then fled toward East Reed Street, he said.

Gannon is wanted on charges of first-degree robbery, deadly weapon possession during commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, endangering a child’s welfare and conspiracy. His accomplice was described only as a black man.

Anyone with information on Gannon’s whereabouts is urged to call police at (302) 736-7111. Tips also may be given to Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or www.tipsubmit.com.
