A Christiana-area man was arrested after he shot three people who asked him to lower his voice as they watched TV, authorities said Wednesday.

The shooting occurred about 6 p.m. Tuesday in a home in the 100 block of E. Village Road in Elkton, Maryland, according to Cecil County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Michael Holmes.

Tyree Naquand Pollard, 25, of the first block of Regal Court in the the Sherwood Forest neighborhood off Christiana Road (Del. 273) between Christiana and Ogletown, was arrested by Newark police responding to a report of a suspicious person on South College Avenue, Holmes said.

A warrant check showed Pollard – now being held in Delaware pending extradition to Maryland – also is wanted in Delaware and by the Elkton (Maryland) Police Department, he said. Details of the outstanding charges were not released.

Deputies were alerted Tuesday night by a call reporting shots fired in the Elkton home, where responding officers found evidence of multiple gunshots, Holmes said.

A short time later, he said, deputies contacted the victims, two of whom were taken to Christiana Hospital and one to Union Hospital in Elkton – all by private vehicles. The victim at Union Hospital later was transferred to Christiana, he added.

Their conditions and details of their injuries were not disclosed, but Holmes said none suffered life-threatening injuries.

The victims were described as a 21-year-old man from Elkton, a 21-year-old man from Newark and a 21-year-old woman from Glen Burnie, Maryland.

They told deputies they were watching television when another man who was in the house "brandished a handgun and began shooting" after "being told to lower his voice," Holmes said.

Implying there may be more that led to the shooting, Holmes noted that authorities "are still investigating the motive associated with the shooting."
