Elsmere police seized 148 bags of heroin, a gram of crack cocaine and $149 in suspected drug proceeds during the arrests of suspected drug dealers William E. Bacon and Ronald Maddray of Wilmington.

Two suspected drug dealers from Wilmington were arrested in Elsmere with heroin and crack cocaine, town police said Wednesday.

William E. Bacon, 19, of the first block of N. Clayton St., and Ronald Maddray, 20, of the 700 block of W. 10th St., were committed to Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington after each failed to post $60,000 cash bail, Elsmere Police Chief Laura M. Giles said.

During an ongoing drug investigation, Bacon and Maddray were pulled over for traffic violations Tuesday in the area of Kirkwood Highway and Maple Avenue, Sgt. Phil Young said.

As they conducted a vehicle search, officers seized 148 bags of heroin, Young said. Later, at police headquarters, officers found Maddray had concealed a gram of crack cocaine in the area of his groin, he said.
