Wilmington police are investigating an incident where shots were fired near the corner of South Franklin and Linden streets.

Police have not called the incident a shooting but members of the department's forensic unit were dusting for fingerprints on two cars. Three chalk circles were drawn near the cars.

Wilmington police Sgt. Andrea Janvier said the preliminary investigation does not show this to be a shooting. "It's being investigated as a reckless endangering," she said. Further details will be released soon, she said.

Residents said a young man was shot at while near the corner. The young man ran into a house in the 400 block of S. Franklin St. as the shooter continued to fire, striking the person. The bullet grazed the victim and also shattered a glass storm door, residents said.

A man cleaning glass from the porch declined to comment.
