Shooting victim in critical condition

WILMINGTON - A man was in critical condition after being shot in the chest Thursday night on Wilmington's west side, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 9:45 p.m. in the area of Fifth and Webb streets, city police Sgt. Andrea Janvier.

New Castle County paramedics spokesman Sgt. Michael A. McColley said the shooting was near the Wawaset Shopping Center in the 500 block of Greenhill Ave., adjacent to the Fifth and Webb intersection.

The victim, described as 46 years old, was treated by paramedics and taken to Christiana Hospital, he said.

According to emergency radio reports, four men were seen fleeing on Fourth Street from Greenhill Avenue.
