A fight between out-of-state cousins in Harrington left one woman injured and both arrested, city police said Monday.

Police were called Thursday to Diamond Court Apartments, where they learned Melody A. Russell, 33, Glen Burnie, Maryland and Sabrina Waters, 38, of Philadelphia, assaulted each other during an argument, Lt. Earl K. Brode said.

Russell tried to strangle Waters, Brode said, and Waters tried to attack Russell with a knife, but others in the home broke up their fight.

Waters was treated for minor injuries at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, he said.

Waters later was charged with aggravated menacing, offensive touching and disorderly conduct. She also was wanted by Kent County Court of Common Pleas for failure to pay a shoplifting fine, Brode said.

She was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown, lacking bail of $39 cash and $2,500 secured.

Russell was charged with strangulation, offensive touching and disorderly conduct, then released on $3,500 unsecured bail.
